Flight Attendants Fighting Sex Discrimination

9780822339342 The Los Angeles Times has a piece today about how difficult it was for men to become flight attendants. In her book Femininity in Flight, Kathleen Barry writes about flight attendants struggle to overthrow the sexist rules that forced them to retire upon marrying or turning thirty-two. Through the hard work of their unions, flight attendants finally gained respect as safety professionals. She discusses the anti-discrimination law Title VII, featured prominently in the Times piece.
