Three great events are happening today on both coasts:
Imani Perry, author of Prophets of the Hood: Politics and Poetics in Hip Hop will be speaking at Duke University at 3:00 p.m. Her talk is entitled "I Always Feel Like Somebody’s Watching Me: The Politics of Race in Surveillance, Privacy, and Voyeurism."
Celine Parreñas Shimizu, author of The Hypersexuality of Race: Performing Asian/American Women on Screen and Scene, will be signing copies of her book at the UCLA Asian Studies Center from 5-7 p.m.
Laura E. Pérez, author of Chicana Art: The Politics of Spiritual and Aesthetic Altarities, will read from her book and sign copies at City Lights bookstore in San Francisco at 7:00 p.m.
