Daisuke Miyao’s book Sessue Hayakawa: Silent Cinema and Transnational Stardom is praised in today’s New York Times. Reviewing the new release of the DVD of The Dragon Painter, a 1919 film featuring Hayakawa, Dave Kehr writes, "The fascinating story of Hayakawa’s career, and the complicated
