We are pleased to announce that two of our authors have recently won awards. Lauren Derby's The Dictator's Seduction: Politics and the Popular Imagination in the Era of Trujillo is a co-winner of the Caribbean Studies Association's 2010 Gordon K. and Sybil Lewis Award for the best recent book about the Caribbean. And Gabriela Soto Laveaga has won the Robert K. Merton Book Award from the Science, Knowledge, and Technology (SKAT) section of the American Sociological Association for her book Jungle Laboratories: Mexican Peasants, National Projects, and the Making of the Pill. The award is given in recognition of an outstanding book on science,
knowledge, and technology. Congratulations to them both!
