Abadie Small In his new book The Professional Guinea Pig: Big Pharma and the Risky World of Human Subjects, Roberto Abadie documents the emergence of the professional research subject in Phase I clinical trials testing the safety of drugs in development. He questions the safety of hiring the same subjects over and over (some of the people he interviewed have participated in over 80 clinical trials) and calls for a centralized registry which would record trial participation.
