Congratulations to our Celebrated Designers

It's time again for the annual AAUP Book, Jacket, and Journal Show. Each year a panel of expert judges chooses the best design work in the university press world. The winners are assembled into a traveling show which visits university presses around the country and is also on display at the AAUP's annual
Wiegman meeting. Duke University Press designers are always well-represented among the winners.

SterneCongratulations to Amy Ruth Buchanan, recognized in the Scholarly Typographic category for her designs of MP3: A Meaning of a Format by Jonathan Sterne and Object Lessons by Robyn Wiegman. Object Lessons also was recognized as outstanding in the Jackets and Covers category. Amy was also recognized in the Scholarly Illustrated category for her design of Carol Mavor's Black and Blue: The Bruising
Mavor Passion of Camera Lucida, La Jetée, Sans soleil, and Hiroshima mon amour

Congratulations are also in order for designer Heather Hensley, whose design for Image Matters: Archive, Photography, and the African Diaspora in Europe by
CamptTina Campt was also selected as outstanding in the Scholarly Illustrated category.

And finally, congratulations to Cherie Westmoreland for her cover design of Joshua Ramey's The Hermetic Deleuze: Philosophy and Spiritual Ordeal. Cherie retired last year, so this is a fitting last tribute to her work at Duke University Press.

We're so proud of the great work by our designers on these books and all of our others as well. And congratulations to the other university press designers featured in the show as well.
