The Carlyle Letters Online has a new home

We are pleased to share that the Carlyle Letters Online has a new home and a refreshed platform at the Center for Digital Humanities at the University of South Carolina. You can view the new site at

The new platform features an updated look and a tweaked letter viewer for more streamlined viewing. Users will also have immediate access to the raw XML code of the collected letters. Volume 42 of The Collected Letters of Thomas and Jane Welsh Carlyle is the first volume to be published on the new platform, and volume 43 will be available before the end of 2016.

Visit to browse the letters of Thomas and Jane Welch Carlyle to their contemporaries including Charles Dickens, John Stuart Mill, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and Elizabeth Gaskell.
